17000 clear UPSC CSE Preliminary examination

with one comment

UPSC declared the result of the UPSC Civil services examination yesterday. Nearly 17000 students will appear in the main examination.

That is probably the greatest number ever to write the Preliminary examination in recent years (if not decades).  About 450000 candidates had appeared for the Civil services PT examination on 24 August 2014.

According to an UPSC official, there was an increase of 40 per cent in the number of students appearing in this year’s examination compared to last year’s 3,24,279 .

UPSC in the result notification has explicitly asked candidates not to file RTI applications seeking details of their marks as it will be made public only when the whole process of examination is over.

with 4 comments

Many candidates face DAF registration problems while filling the online daf mains form. See the link below for full details. also see for other confusion regarding daf filling.

i have mailed on web@ upsc.com watecr it was too…no reply since last
morning…..no good rply on phn…. one person said to come to UPSC and
meet sm person….i guess i vll wait for a day or two and thn try to go
to delhi by myself to solve the problem
dude, i got th reply from the same mail … they reinstalled my account and asked me to re-register.. i did and i got my password nw.. do try again , hope it works 🙂

DAF URGent—REGISTRATION PROBLEM

I decided to fill up my DAF form yesterday…when i tried REGISTERING, it says that you have already registered…

but i did not …whats the likely problem…what can be done now…?…

i think they will reply u after resetting…….. but i dont hav exact idea abt how long it will take as i didnt face this problem.  i replied u after reading others comments in the following thread.

u can see the preview before final submission n if u wish to change any info then u can go to that module and after making modification click on save n continue. no modification can be done after final submission.  btw i hav not submitted finally though i hav filled up all modules n seen preview of form n summary sheet.

.i have just one query.that after final submission can we view the finally submitted form the next day on the website. or will i have to save the final document on the computer and use a pen drive????as i dont have a printer at home.nor do i have a pen drive..(i live in a suburban)

so in that case can i just log on to the Upsc site from a cyber cafe after submitting my form from my home computer ,?also how many pages finally as i  would like to know the cost and will go to the cheapest cafe>>>

I have a question regarding home state and cadre choices… Please help me in making an informed decision

Being from defence background I have done my schooling across India, engg frm Tamil Nadu and worked at Bangalore for 2 years…

After retirement my father has settled in Bangalore and is residing there since 2005 … Can I put Karnataka as my home state?

But in case of my cadre preferences I have put UP ( birth place of my parents) as my first choice followed by its adjoining states. I have put Karnataka and other south Indian states very low in order…Will this lead to problem in interview?

Please share your opinion asap.

one of my friend’s brother in DANIPS…he always says that group a service are always better than group b….moreover even after 10 yr of service he has not been promoted yet ,,,now he cleared ips ltd exam….stagnancy is main problem  in gp b

But DANIPS officers feel frustated when they have to salute the younger officers of IPS for more than 15 yrs but not in DANICS…Promotion is too slow but one will become IAS in DANICS and a needed respect in public domain

Expected cut off for pre exam in upsc civils 2012 pt

with 22 comments

  • Expected Cut Off for Pre Exam???
  • what can we expect to be the cut off of GEN, OBC, SC, ST keeping in mind the last year trend and this year’s paper??

  • i have seen the threads last year also, for a month or so after the exam, candidates keep guessing relatively low cut off and as the time passes by it keeps on increasing…..
  • cutoff should not cross 200 if UPSC takes 14k candidates
  • Guys,I need some help here.. i gave my frst attempt this year without a single day of preps as i wanted to give my best efforts for 2013 and i left my job recently… i am getting arnd 174(64+110) and i have not included the last 7 decision making qstns as i knw only UPSC can provide answers for it… do i have a chance to clear??? shud i start preps for my mains??? thanks
  • it does nt matter for upsc whether seats increase or not they will take same 12k seats as we have been seeing since lat 2-3 years…last year general cut off hovered around 200..but one person i knw was from general cat was saying he was getting 184 and cleared..
  • because last yr many people didn’t  appeared for the pt
now this yr many experienced people give this exam
so , cut off should be same as last yr., keeping in mind of no. of vacancy n tricky paper.
  • No bad mood, sustained preparation. expected close to 230 both papers combined. individual was some 85 in paper one and 145 in paper 2. Last time I was confident  and I did clear. This time , it’s not so 🙁

UPSC Prelims 2012 cut off and score discussion

with 10 comments

With the 2012 UPSC Preliminary PT exam behind you, what do you think will be the cut off for it? See this link for discussion

  • prelims is over now….too much relaxed….but relax for 3-5 days only if u hav good scores in prelims..so that performance be good in mains also….

now biggest question is a) which is 99% right ans key/answers of paper-1 & paper-2……b)what may be cut off

i hav some views and also express ur views….

ans key/ans of paper-1 &2 available at ..shankar ias academy, testof funda, careel launcher….till now on net…

well i can say all these ans keys are not 99% right…..ya i can have faith on shankar ias academy upto 85-90%(for paper-1)…but for paper -2 any of these ans key is 70 % right..( testof funda )…..

I m having 92 marks in paper-1 & 98 marks for paper-2 total 190 marks…..as per these ans keys…..

cut off definitely may go down bcoz of a) 100 seat are more than last yr so 1500 candidates will be selected more than last yr…b

  • Average do not get selected, toppers get selected. And do not make a fool out if yourself by thinking that cutoff would be 155-165.People get this much in one paper only.Though even my score is also not very high, but its a hard but true fact.
  • Cut off for last year prelims have not been declared by UPSC in any of RTI query as exam process for UPSC got over only on 4th may with final result. I dnt knw whr all people have seen 194 as cut off.
  • CSAT   Total Marks   Attempted Right Wrong Total

    Paper-1 200    78 50 28 81.3324

    Paper-2 200    73 60 13 140.25

    According to CL’s Answer key

Total of both papers — 222

    I see a variation of 7-10 marks

    What are my chances ???

  • No sectional cut off.. That is sure..

Question that have diff answer at diff sources

1. You want to go on Leave but Boss deny

2.Difference of opinion regarding a report.

3. Gender Impact

7, Why man Introduce exotic specis…

Not all answers will be correct in them. Career launcher often revises answers. And Vajiram’s as of now is not for all sets.
